Randy Baldwin has more than a decade of experience practicing patent law, including U.S. patent preparation and prosecution; foreign prosecution; reexamination; patentability, validity, noninfringement and infringement opinions; and appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Mr. Baldwin has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patents both U.S. and foreign. Mr. Baldwin concentrates his practice in technologies related to software, computers, and business methods. He has served clients in various industries and technologies, such as user interfaces, operating systems, financial services, power generation, cloud computing, mobile technology and services, wearable devices, virtual and augmented reality, and Internet of Things (IoT) systems and devices.
Prior to joining MH2 Technology Law Group, LLP, Randy practiced as a patent attorney with several prominent intellectual property boutiques in Washington, DC, such as Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, LLP and Stern, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox. Randy received his J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, where he was a member of the IP Law Society.
Prior to his legal career, Randy enjoyed an 18-year career as a software engineer and database architect at Northrop Grumman and as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Booz Allen Hamilton, where he advised clients about various technologies, particularly in the public utility and telecommunications fields. His software engineering experience included designing, developing, and testing real-time software for electric power utilities, developing Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) software, and designing and developing databases for a variety of clients, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), state law enforcement agencies, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
