Urmi is a registered patent agent with over fourteen years of experience. Her practice focuses on drafting patent applications, U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, analysis of competitive IP intelligence, and due diligence matters. She has experience in strategically developing and managing patent portfolios and performing comprehensive patent landscape reviews, patentability searches, and freedom-to-operate and invalidity assessments.
Urmi has particular expertise in medical technologies, including orthopedic devices, spinal implants and stabilization systems, stents, grafts, artificial heart valves and other cardiovascular devices, soft tissue implants, bone graft materials, ocular devices, surgical methods and related instrumentation.
Prior to joining MH2 Technology Law Group, Urmi was a patent agent with the law firms of Morrison & Foerster LLP in Palo Alto, CA and Monument IP Law Group in Washington D.C. She previously served as Director of Patent Affairs for the Washington D.C. consulting firm Musculoskeletal Clinical Regulatory Advisers, LLC (MCRA). Urmi is also a former patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she examined patent applications related to implantable medical devices.
Urmi received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, during which time she worked as a co-op research technician for a major orthopedic company performing wear testing of joint bearing materials.
