Pierre (Petr) VanderVegt, Ph.D. is a registered patent agent with over 10 years of experience in patent drafting and prosecution, as well as assisting attorneys in freedom-to-operate, patentability, and invalidity opinions, Inter Partes review preparation, and due diligence review of patent portfolios. Petr’s areas of expertise include genetics, molecular diagnostic assays, cellular and humoral immunology, autoimmunity, tissue transplantation, antigen presentation, medical devices, nutraceuticals, plastic films and bioremediation.

Before joining MH2 Technology Law Group LLP, Petr was an intellectual property manager with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation and a patent agent with Morgan Lewis LLP, Morris Manning & Martin LLP and Andrews Kurth LLP.

Petr also served as a biotechnology patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for 12 years, specializing in cellular immunology.  Prior to his service at the patent office, Petr held postdoctoral positions at the Trudeau Institute in Saranac Lake, NY studying the role of T cell subsets in transplantation tolerance, and at the National Institutes of Health characterizing the IA2 marker used to differentiate between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
