Stuart Smith has over twenty years of experience in all aspects of patent law, including strategic patent portfolio development and management; patentability, validity, infringement, and freedom to operate opinions; utility and design patent preparation and prosecution; patent landscape analysis; due diligence reviews; and litigation. Mr. Smith has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications as well as supervised U.S. and foreign patent application prosecution. His experience serving as in-house patent counsel and working in large and boutique law firms has resulted in expertise developing and managing patent portfolios that include patents in the United States and foreign countries.

Mr. Smith’s experience spans various technical fields, including manufacturing (packaging machinery and methods); home appliances; gutter protection; defense systems (unmanned aerial vehicles and sniper detection systems); wiring connectors; automotive systems (engines, hybrid drive trains, tire design, and suspension systems); medical diagnostic and therapeutic products (blood testing equipment and orthopedic surgical devices); motorcycle parts; personal watercraft systems; magnetic transmission systems; image processing devices; printers; computer software; and cloud storage systems.

Prior to joining MH2 Technology Law Group, LLP, Mr. Smith was a patent attorney with Roberts, Calderon, Safran & Cole, PC in McLean, VA, and Venable LLP in Washington, DC. Prior to pursuing a career in patent law, Mr. Smith practiced law in the field of construction litigation.
