Jim Boyle’s practice focuses on all aspects of patent protection, including licensing, opinions, and patent prosecution. For over twenty years, Jim has prepared and prosecuted patents related to complex electrical, chemical, software and physics-based technology and processes. Prior to his work as a patent attorney, Jim earned a Ph.D. in physics and served as a research physicist for over seven years, elucidating the dynamics of laser/atom interactions and processes. In addition, prior to entering law school, Jim was an associate editor on the staff of the American Heritage Dictionary. During his tenure on the staff, he contributed to several published dictionaries, a thesaurus, and a book on English usage.
As a patent attorney for over twenty years, Jim has extensive litigation experience in Federal District Courts and in other forums, including experience before the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multi-district Litigation, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and he has successfully defending multiple patents before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). In addition to serving as Of Counsel at MH2 Technology Law Group LLP, Jim is currently the founder and a member of Boyle, PLLC, Patent & Technology Law.
