Richard Irving has over twenty-five years of experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications for inventions in the fields of computer science and electrical engineering, as well as other technical areas. In addition, Mr. Irving has worked closely with patent attorneys in foreign countries to help obtain foreign patent protection for his clients’ inventions.

Examples of the technologies in which Mr. Irving prepared and prosecuted patent applications include machine learning, computer networking, database systems, natural language processing, wireless communications, telephone networks, speech recognition, operating systems, object-oriented programming, DVD technology, computer data storage devices, computer security, cryptography, image processing, satellite communication systems and machine vision.

Before joining MH2 Technology Law Group, LLP, Mr. Irving was a patent attorney with Edell, Shapiro & Finnan, LLC in Gaithersburg, MD, a founding partner and patent attorney with Capitol City TechLaw LLC in MD and VA, and a patent attorney with Pillsbury Winthrop LLP in Washington, DC.

Before becoming a patent attorney, Mr. Irving worked as a software engineer, and later as a technical manager, for several global companies including Hughes Network Systems, General Electric Information Services, Contel Information Systems and Litton Systems.
